Each transaction becomes one row with separate columns for date, description, debit, credit and balance. Dates are converted to a single format, amounts are numbers rather than text, and multi-line descriptions are merged back into one cell. Page headers, footers and repeated column titles are removed so the table sorts and filters cleanly.
Opening balance plus every credit minus every debit should equal the closing balance printed on the statement, and each running balance should follow from the row before it.
